Big news for D&D fans!
Stig Asmussen, the director behind Star Wars Jedi: Survivor and God of War 3, is leading a brand
new single-player Dungeons & Dragons action-adventure game with his new studio, Giant Skull.
The game promises immersive storytelling, heroic combat, and, as Asmussen puts it, 'exhilarating traversal.' This move comes as
Wizards of the Coast shifts focus to single-player experiences after the success of Baldur’s Gate 3 and the
flop of Dark Alliance.
The game will use Unreal Engine 5 and launch on PC and consoles, but details are still under
wraps.
Expect more updates at Summer Game Fest!
Sony is joining the Summer Game Fest excitement with a new State of Play showcase on June 4.
The event will feature news and updates on must-play PS5 games, including possible reveals for Death Stranding 2,
Wolverine, and more.
Fans are also hoping for updates on Final Fantasy 7 Remake and Kingdom Hearts 4.
The showcase will stream for about 40 minutes on PlayStation’s YouTube and Twitch channels.
Get ready for some big announcements!
In a surprising twist, seals are now playing video games to help researchers understand how they navigate underwater!
Scientists trained three harbor seals to use a screen and tap a ball to indicate direction in simulated
murky waters.
The seals, named Nick, Luca, and Miro, learned to use visual cues to figure out where they were
going—even in cloudy conditions.
As one researcher said, 'These are living animals, not robots,' highlighting the seals’ impressive learning abilities.
Next up: more experiments to see how they handle drifting particles and sea currents!
Elsewhere in gaming, Playtonic, the studio behind Yooka-Laylee, has laid off staff amid industry changes.
EA has canceled its Black Panther game and closed the studio working on it, but an Iron Man
game is still in development.
Meanwhile, Roll7’s games Rollerdrome and OlliOlli World are back on Steam after being delisted.
And don’t forget—Nintendo’s Switch 2 launches this week!
